Cositas que he estado haciendo / Little things I've been making

Good morning! It's some time since the last time I share with you some of the crafts I've been making so I've been taking some photographs and here you can see them. If you'd like to make one of them and don't know how please leave me a comment and I'll explain how. The first photograph is of a kind of charm I made for a bag (it´s just a chain, a key ring, and three sea glasses), the second is some felt tulips which I already put the tutorial here, the third one is a finger pincushion and the last photograph is of one of the two quilts I'm sewing (in each of the beige color blocks will be an appliqué). Do you like the tutorials you can see in the blog each friday? is there any material or technique you'd like to learn and that you hadn't seen it in the blog yet? I try the tutorials each week to be varied but I'd like to know your opinion, I look forward to your comments!

De lluvia y botines nuevos / About rain and ankle boots

www.es.123rf.com
Good morning and good week start! Today for a more cheerful monday I'm going to tell you another of my anecdotes, those ones that from time to time usually happen to me. I hope it makes you smile.

A late November rainy afternoon I was leaving my office when I met one of my bosses who offered to give me a lift home. He had his car some streets away so he asked me to wait for him by the office door in order me not to get wet. As soon as he left for his car I saw a girl of around 20 years old (I thought) with no umbrella and her feet inside plastic bags and saying "ay ay ay" each step. I saw her and thought that with those plastic bags and that wet pavement she might slip and hurt herself so when she was near from me we had this conversation:

Ella:/ She: Ayyyy mis botineeees / Ayyyy my ankle boots

Yo:/ I: Yo de tí me quitaría esas bolsas de plástico porque con la acera mojada te vas a resbalar seguro mujer / If I were you I'd take off those plastic bags because with this wet pavement you are going to slip and fell down love

Noooo, my ankle boots are new and are made of leather and they'll be ruined. This morning when I have put them on I couldn't imagine it'd rain and what am I going to do when I arrive home with them all wet?

(¡La pobre me miraba con una carita! / The poor girl looked at me with such a naive look!)

Yo:/ I: No problem. / No problem. When you arrive home put some newspaper pages inside the ankle boots and in a warm place and tomorrow you'll see they are as well as this morning.

Ella:/ She:  ¿Siiiii? ¿Y funcionaráaaa? / Really? and will it work?

Yo:/ I: Si mujer, ya lo verás / Yes, love, you'll see

She smiled at me, thanked me and kept on walking with her ankle boots inside the plastic bags. In that moment my boss arrived with his car. I went into the car and along the way to my home I told him the story and we both laughed. I was telling him: "I'm Victoria at any time adviser" jajaja. By night to a complete stranger but everything for a pair of new leather ankle boots. Another of my anecdotes!

Tutorial: Cómo hacer punto.....¡con los brazos!, el bloque economy de patchwork y 25 tutoriales para hacer bufandas/How to knit.....with your arms!, the Economy block and 25 scarf tutorials

Buenos días y buen viernes a tod@s!.

Good morning and good friday everybody!. This week has been a short one for Valencian people as wednesday was feast day in my city but weekend is here and the three tutorials of today too. The first one is about a new technique to knit using..... your arms! (if you've never seen it here you have a video which could inspire you to knit a scarf in no time). The second tutorial is for the ones who like quilting making the most of the fabric scraps we already have at home. The block I'm suggesting you is called "Economy block", it's all said by saying it. Below the photograph of the block you have the link with the tutorial to make it and the third tutorial is a multi-tutorial because I suggest you 25 different scarves to keep you warm this winter. I hope you like these tutorials and to make them if you like them too.

11 maneras de quererse más / 11 ways to love yourself more

Good morning and happy San Vicente day for the ones who are reading this from Valencia (today is a feast day here), to the rest of you don't worry (be happy), weekend is coming nearer. I found the article I'm bringing you today in one of my "walks" on the internet and I liked it very much so I thought a good idea to share it with you. The original is in English so here you have the Spanish translation for the ones not speaking Shakespeare's language and for the ones who do speak it here you have the link to read the original article. I hope you like it

Recuerdos de Portugal / Memories of Portugal

Good morning! Some years ago, back in summer 2.006, I travelled to Portugal with some friends. The trip was organised and the hotel where we stayed in was in the city of Fátima (by then this little city had cheap hotels to stay and it was very well communicated by road. The only "but" it had was that all cafeterias/pubs in Fátima closed when it was getting dark so the only place to have a drink was the hotel bar. Some nights what we did was going downstairs to the hotel bar and others buying Port wine in a shop and having a drink in one of the rooms).

Well, sorry about the comment because that wasn't what I wanted to talk you about today but about the following: one of the evenings we went to Lisboa I remember the six of us having a walk around one of the most important squares of the city and everything was perfect: a not too hot  August evening, blue sky, good company and in a beautiful city (which I recommend to you) when I talked with Esmeralda (one of the friends) telling her everything was perfect in that moment and I'll never forget what she said to me: "Look well around you and then close your eyes and close them well, then you'll realise how you'll fix this memory" and so I did and you know what? that was what happened!. Despite of the years I remember perfectly well the colours, the sensations, the moment. Have you ever done that? If not try and please let me know!

Tutorial: Nail art y Nail art de la Reina Sofía de España, calendarios imprimibles para 2.014 y cómo hacerse unas botas con un suéter/ Nail art and Queen Sofía of Spain nail art, free printable 2.014 calendars and how to make

Good morning! It's friday and tutorials day and they'll be three because I have noticed in the blog that you like them so from now on I'll try to put three each friday. The first: from some time on the so called "nail art" has become a creative and fun fashion that many women practise so here I suggest you 15 different ways to decorate your nails and the photographs that even the Royals "practise" it. You'll be able to see the two photographs in which Queen Sofía of Spain wears a very original and fun nail art that you can copy. And the third tutorial is about recycling an old sweater into boots to stay at home comfy and warm. Ah! and free printable calendars for 2.014. I hope you like them and you practise them

www.50shadesofage.com
Good morning! Do you like George Clooney? If so and you plan to visit Valencia in the next weeks you'd be lucky because George will be very soon in my city for the shooting of his last film "Tomorrowland". The film is going to be shot since next month of February in Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (http://www.cac.es/) due to the futurist atmosphere in which the film is set which will also be starred by Hugh Laurie (Dr. House). The premiere will be next December 2.014.

But apart from talking about Mr. Clooney and Laurie are coming to my city I'd like to talk about the following. At the beginning of December there was a casting looking for 300 extras for the film and it was incredibly succesful: there were 20.000 downloads of the test to be able to participate. They were looking for children from 4-17 years old and adults from 18-60 years old.

The casting was a little bit polemic because women of more than a size 42 (size 12 in USA) were rejected from the start explaining that they already had the costumes and that they were sizes 36-42 (sizes 6-12 USA) and those costumes were made of close-fitting neopreno.

¿No envejeceremos?

And I ask to myself, is it supposed that in the future there won't be women with more than a size 42 (12 in USA)? Will all men and women be absolutely perfect into a top model size 36-38 (6-8 USA)? Won't there be people with physical or psychological defects? Won't we age? Why do cinema directors insist on showing a so unreal future? What do you think?

Good morning! Twoo weeks ago Camino from (http://unapizcade97.blogspot.com.es/) chose me, among other blogs with less than 100 followers, to do a kind of test and I replied to her that I'd be pleased to answer to her questions…they always give some information about the person who writes to you. You can see below the questions/answers in Spanish and English. But I'd like to talk you a little bit about Camino. She and her brother Luis were my English students for two years and they were great students to whom it was a pleasure to teach and whom I'm very fond of. In fact it was to Camino to whom I talked about I was thinking about the possibility to create my own blog when she told me she had already created her own one and encouraged me to create mine. If you have some spare time please visit her blog and you'll realise how mature a 16-year-old girl can be just by reading any of her posts or simply the questions she wrote to me. Thanks Camino for choosing me and I'm sending a very big kiss to my Tweety (the affectionate name I gave to Camino) and another one to your brotheeer

Which was that little "push" that made you create the blog?
I was reading other blogs for some time and I liked that "world" and being able to express my own opinions sharing the things I like, that was probably the thing which made me take the decision.

2.- ¿A qué personaje/celebridad te gustaría conocer en persona? / Which celebrity would you like to meet in person?
The first name that comes to my mind is George Clooney and not only because he's attractive (obvious) but because I think talking with him would be as interesting.

3.- ¿Cuál es tu ciudad favorita? / Which is your favourite city?
Oviedo y León/I could say Valencia because it's my city and it'd be true but I wouldn't like to choose just one city. There are other cities I like very much for example Oviedo and León.

4.- ¿Con qué motivo/finalidad escribes el blog? / For what reason/objective do you write the blog?
I think I've already answered to this question in question number 1. Because I like to express my own opinions and share the things I like.

5.- ¿Llevas a cabo algún “ritual” antes de escribir una nueva entrada (tomas algo, te preparas de alguna forma, acudes a algún sitio, ..)? / Do you follow any kind of "ritual" before writing a new entry (you've a drink, you prepare yourself in a certain way, go to a specific place, …)?
No, no hago ningún ritual concreto. No, I don't do any specific ritual. I simply have a little notebook where I write down the topics I like and when I have a spare moment I write about them. About the tutorials, I'm subscribed to many blogs so when I see an interesting tutorial I keep it in an specific folder in my computer to be able to give them to you in my blog.

6.- ¿Qué te llevarías a una isla desierta? / What would you take with you to a deserted island?
As you don't limit me the number of things I could carry with me I would carry some. For example, I'd take with me a pot to cook, some salt, paper, pencils or pens, a craft to make, scissors, a small rope, some glue, ….I guess that useful things that I could use in the island to make a little hut and make my life a little more pleasant while I had to stay there.

7.- ¿Libro de papel o libro electrónico? / Paper book or e-book?
Suelo leer el periódico y ver algunos telediarios/I'm a terrible reader. I don't use any of them. I usually read the newspaper and watch the news on TV

8.- ¿Cuál fue tu primer concierto? / Which was your first concert?
No recuerdo bien, quizá el que fui a ver al grupo Mecano/I can't remember it well, probably the one I went to listen to the band Mecano.

9.- ¿Te gustaría reunirte con todos tus seguidores? / Would you like to meet your blog followers?
Me encantaría. I know (by the info the blog gives that there are people reading my blog from Rusia (depending on the moment there are lots of people reading my blog from there). What I'd like very much is that I could read more comments in my blog. It's always nice to know (and not only by the info the blog gives) that people read and follow you.

10.- ¿Cuál es tu mayor hobby? / Which is your favourite hobby?
Mis tres hobbies favoritos son: coser, hacer manualidades y escribir. Me encanta el patchwork (ahora mismo estoy cosiendo un quilt cadena irlandesa) y respecto a escribir me gusta escribir relatos cortos/ I have three favourite hobbies: sewing, crafting and writing. I love quilting (right now I'm sewing an Irish chain quilt) and about writing I like writing short stories.

11.- ¿Alguna vez has pensado en crear un videoblog? / Have you ever thought about creating a videoblog?
No, I've never thought about creating a videoblog. I prefer my blog activity to be just another part of my spare time.

Good morning, we come back to tutorials friday. During these Christmas days I've been looking tutorials in other blogs and I have kept a good lot of them to show you from now on. I'll try them to be varied and 0 cost if possible, giving the financial crisis and after so much Christmas expense I thought a good idea to create something nice from something we could already have at home. Do you remember that before Christmas I ask you not to throw away any Christmas card to be able to recycle them? here is the little surprise: recycle those Christmas cards into a bookmark. The second one is a felt flower car freshener and the third one is milk jug votive. Here you have the first three tutorials of this 2.014, I hope you enjoy them

A new year, a consideration and a song

Buenos días y feliz año a tod@s!

Good morning and happy new year everybody! how about your Christmas days? have you had a nice New Year start?. Today first post of 2.014 and as we say in Spain: "New year, new life".

I've never been the new year resolutions or intentions for the new year person but it's true that at the end of each year I've always done a kind of evaluation of the things I could change for the following year. Referring to the blog there's one: trying to show myself in a more real way. Let me explain you what I mean. As much in real life than in the blog I've always tried to show you my cheerful and positive side that I do have but nobody is always and completely like that and I'm not the exception.

During year 2.012 a series of personal, health, family and work problems did that more than a year it were a nightmare. When a person faces a "sea" of problems feels he/she has to face them and go on but when things calm down, at least a little bit, everything comes up and the emotional cost is high. Along 2.013 I've tried to go on making the effort to face the problems but it's hard not to feel you're losing the hope and excitement in a better future. The renowned Spanish psychiatrist Dr. Luis Rojas-Marcos said once that on the contrary as many people could think suffering do not strength but it weakens. Just below this paragraph you have a link to get to know a little bit about Dr. Rojas-Marcos.

One of the reasons why I started this blog was for expressing myself as I am but don't think, even for a moment, that from now on this blog is going to be something serious and sad because that's not going to happen. I'm really sorry this long post, I didn't want to write so much but I did want you to understand what I wanted to tell you.

If you have reached to here reading this loooong post I thank you double and suggest you to listen to this song that makes me smile every time I listen to it:
