De blogs, tecnología y comentarios / About blogs, technology and comments

Good morning! Last Monday 3rd March in the post “8 ideas para una casa más auténtica y feliz / 8 ideas for a more authentic joyful home”  someone left an anonymous comment saying the following: “Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. But just imagine if you added some great graphics or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this blog could definitely be one of the greatest in its niche. Awesome blog!”. And this comment gave me the idea of this post. I’m very grateful for all your comments and especially for the ones expressing constructive opinions. As I replied to my anonymous reader, I wish I knew more “blogging technology” to be able to use it in my blog but I don’t know it and don’t know anyone who could teach it to me (I promise that as soon as I have some free time I’ll try to look for any tutorial).

I love seeing blogs (Spanish or foreign ones) seeing the quality of the photographs, the (usually) well written posts, the time they can dedicate to make crafts and sewing (always many and new ones). I wonder how these blogger women can get so much free time and how they can stretch the 24 hours a day more than most of us can.

In my case I do all my home tasks: do the laundry, shopping, cooking (not much, I confess I don’t like cooking jajaja), ironing, cleaning, etc… all tasks a house (in my case flat) needs; I work five hours/day as a secretary; I teach English 4 or 5 times/week; I look after my elderly parents as much as I can; I handsew some patchwork (whenever I can and have free time); I go to aquagym twice/week in the afternoons after work; on Friday afternoons I have some free time for the blog searching for new tutorials and writing and translating the posts and at the weekends I try to relax and meet friends. It’s difficult to make more of the free time I have.

I daily see other blogs and I say to myself “I could have dealt this topic or the other one” or “this tutorial is great!, I wish I could have imagined it!” but my blog is like my  personal “Speaker’s Corner” (as in Hyde Park in London). For me it is my little space in the blogosphere from where I give you my opinion, my point of view about some topics, where I tell you the things that happen to me or pass through my mind and some of my tutorials and lots (almost all) of other people’s tutorials.

This is a “around-the-house” blog, in it it’s always me (one of my three friends named Mª José told me the first time she visited my blog: “It’s you!, you’re so, you’re like that!”. And if you met me in person you’d realise that I am like you can read me in the blog. I don’t have a team behind me making beautiful photographs (I take the photographs of my tutorials with my mobile), I write the texts, translate them and I do everything. I don’t have any sponsorship, don’t usually take part in other blogs’ activities (because I don’t have more free time). I simply have a blog because I like sharing “the product” of my walks on the internet. I’d like to say thanks to all the people visiting my blog, some of you tell me that although you read it you don’t decide yourselves to make comments, it’s not difficult, you only have to click in Comments at the end of each post and there (choosing for example Anonymous and saying who you are in the comment is enough). I’d like to say thanks especially to Karen of Quilts, etc and to my friend Estrella (Trelli) for their comments (thank you girls!). It’s always very nice to see there are people who might be interested in what I tell you and what I find on the internet. Sorry for this loooong post and thank you very much to all

  1. blogging just needs to be fit in to the time that you have. You do a lot! I don't know how you fit it all in. I am older than you and no longer working. My elderly mother doesn't live in my town but 2.5 hours away from me so I am not the one caring for her. My time is my own :) I take my camera almost every where with me, it is little snap and shoot I stick it in a pocket even - my blogging is just chatting as though you or other quilters are here with me - not formal in the least so I can type it up quickly (I used to be a secretary :) ) I don't consider it work

    1. Sometimes in the past I've found blogging quite a job and that's why I took some "blog holidays" because I didn't have enough "mental space" to think beyond situations in life but when things come their usual way and the "problems" are just being busy those are no problems for me only to find the necessary free time to blog, just that. What a nice idea would be to meet and have a quilting day together, a pity we are x million kms away!!
